today26 March, 2024

Background

Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has emphasized the importance of reactivating the Kalimbeza rice project to bolster food security in Namibia. The project, intended to be a cornerstone in the nation’s rice production, has remained inactive since 2021 due to various challenges, including machinery breakdowns and the need for a new water pump. During her recent visit to the project site, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed confidence in its potential effectiveness and urged project managers to collaborate with the University of Namibia, leveraging its expertise in rice cultivation.
