ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says he is confident that the government will be able to bring crime under control. He visited Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape yesterday, as part of the ruling party’s election campaign. Murders in the third quarter of the 2023/2024 year increased by 2.1-percent, leading to 155 more murders compared to quarter three in 2022/2023. Ramaphosa says every effort is being made to bring crime down.

The Environment, Forestry, and Tourism Ministry strongly condemns the illegal poaching activity discovered within the Mangetti National Park, where three members of the NDF were apprehended with dried game meat from Eland, Kudu, and Wildebeest, lacking the necessary permits. The perpetrators are scheduled to appear in the Rundu Magistrate Court to face charges. Ministry spokesperson Romeo Muyunda.
