uMkhonto weSizwe Party Appeals SA IEC Decision on Jacob Zuma’s Candidacy

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has lodged an appeal with the South African Electoral Court challenging the decision made by the Independent Electoral Commission to remove former president Jacob Zuma from its list of candidates. Following the IEC’s decision to uphold an objection to Zuma’s candidature last week, effectively disqualifying him from standing for legislative seats in the upcoming general elections, the MK party has accused the IEC of not adhering to legal procedures in handling objections to nominated candidates.
