Shaun Gariseb, a prominent advocate for community welfare, has taken a bold step towards addressing the pressing issue of cow debt relief in Windhoek. In a recent statement, Gariseb announced plans to mobilize support for those excluded from existing relief efforts and reject what he views as inadequate offers from the city.

The Katutura Central Committee representative emphasized the importance of inclusivity in relief efforts, noting that existing initiatives have left out various groups, including non-pensioners, vulnerable individuals, disabled persons, businesses, and the unemployed. He asserts that the 15th of April marks a pivotal moment to extend support to those who have yet to benefit from debt relief measures.

“We have deliberately chosen the 15th of April as a day to go and give in our demands and register the other groups other than the pensioners,” Gariseb stated. “We are going to reject the 50% offer from the city of Windhoek and we are also going to give reasons why we are saying that.”

The event on the 15th aims to provide a platform for affected individuals and businesses to register for debt relief and voice their concerns. he invites all those who have not yet received assistance to join the gathering and advocate for their rights. The meeting is scheduled for 10 o’clock on Monday the 15th, with the Black Chain Parking Lot on Independence Avenue serving as the meeting point.

From there, participants will embark on a symbolic march along Independence Avenue, culminating at the intersection of Mahatma Gandhi. Gariseb hopes that this demonstration of unity and solidarity will send a powerful message to policymakers and stakeholders about the urgent need for comprehensive debt relief measures.

In a time of economic uncertainty and hardship, Gariseb’s initiative highlights the importance of community activism and grassroots mobilization in addressing systemic issues. By amplifying the voices of those most affected by cow debt, he strives to bring about meaningful change and ensure that relief efforts are truly inclusive and equitable.

As the date approaches, Shaun Gariseb’s call to action resonates with individuals and organizations committed to social justice and economic empowerment. The 15th of April promises to be a significant moment in the ongoing struggle for cow debt relief in Windhoek, as communities come together to demand justice and accountability.
