S.A. Police Ministry Aims to Strengthen Community Policing in High Crime Areas

Background

The South African Police Ministry is prioritizing the improvement of community policing in crime-ridden regions spanning three provinces. According to spokesperson Lirandzu Themba, Operation Shanela has led to half a million arrests. Themba further announces that Police Minister Bheki Cele will spearhead community Izimbizo events aimed at tackling severe crimes scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, and Sunday in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Western Cape, respectively.
