Namibia urges caution amid Iran-Israel escalation

World leaders are urging caution as Iran’s missile and drone strikes on Israel escalate tensions in the Middle East. The attacks were retaliation for an airstrike on Iran’s consular building in Syria. The situation has intensified as the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza persists. Ambassador Penda Naanda, the executive director of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation.

 

Through its mission at the United Nations, Iran has explained that the mass aerial attack, which it called Operation True Promise, was a retaliation for the bombing of an Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus on 1 April, and that it now considered the matter closed unless there was further action by Israel. Local Public Policy analyst, Dr. Marius Kudumo weighs in on the situation that is unfolding in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. would not take part in a counter-offensive against Iran, according to a White House official. Chris Dignam for Reuters.
