National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) President Ester Muinjangue says her decision to step down and hand over the reins of the party leadership at the upcoming congress in July is to allow members to participate in the race and enable the emergence of new leadership.
Muinjangue says her withdrawal for a second term shows her desire to foster a culture of inclusivity, as she describes herself as a selfless leader.
Muinjangue was speaking at a media conference held today in Windhoek, where she stated that she prefers a candidate who will continue uniting the party and moving outside the traditional base to attract more members.
“Any term is five years. I’m not greedy, narcissistic, or egocentric to want to remain in my position forever. What I said is, I would be happy for a person who will continue keeping the unity in the party, who will move outside our base to get more membership,” said Muinjangue.
