The Electricity Control Board announced an 8% increase in the NamPower bulk tariff for the 2024/25 financial year, raising it from N$1.98 per kWh to 2.14 per kWh. ECB CEO Robert Kahimise stated that the adjustment is driven by rising electricity generation costs, including those associated with imported electricity and reduced water flow to the Ruacana power station due to blockages in Angolan rivers. NamPower’s revenue requirement was adjusted to N$7.9 billion from N$8.4 billion. Approximately 42% of generation costs are in US dollars, making currency exchange fluctuations a significant factor.
