The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Tshisekedi appoints new Prime Minister

Democratic Republic of Congo President, Felix Tshisekedi has appointed Judith Tuluka Suminwa as the country’s next prime minister, the first female to hold the role in the world’s second-biggest copper producer. Bloomberg News reports that Suminwa was previously a minister of State for Planning, the Presidency said on X Monday. She replaces Sama Lukonde, who’s been in office since 2021.

The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed South Africa’s former speaker of Parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's attempt to stop her arrest. Justice Sulet Potterill said if the court were to grant Mapisa-Nqakula's application, all suspects would make such an appointment to prevent their arrest. Government assesses extent of rhino poaching amid recent incidents

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is conducting an assessment to determine the extent of rhino poaching following recent incidents in the Etosha National Park. Since the beginning of the year, 28 rhinos have been poached, with 19 in Etosha National Park and four on a private farm in the Otjozondjupa region. According to ministry spokesperson, Romeo Muyunda, the ministry has called for an urgent high-level meeting on security.

The Namibian Exile Kids Association's Annual General Meeting has elected Kadiva Hamutumwa as its new president, with Sackey Nendongo as deputy and Elisabeth Nghitende as Secretary-General, assisted by Simubali Simubali.
