S.A Minister Zikalala Addresses Lack of Registration for Contractor in George Building Collapse

South Africa’s Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala, revealed that the primary contractor responsible for the collapsed building in George was not registered with the Construction Industry Development Board, which oversees the construction sector. During his visit to George in the Western Cape, where 32 workers lost their lives and 20 remain missing, Zikalala emphasized that the main contractor, Liatel Construction, being a private company, was not obligated to register with the board.
