Ombudsman Flooded with 967 Cases Against Police: Assaults, Employment Disputes, and Investigations Reported

The Office of the Ombudsman has seen a surge in cases concerning the police, with a total of 967 cases filed by both civilians and officers. These cases cover a broad range of issues, such as assaults, employment disputes, investigations, and missing documentation. Aurelia David, the spokesperson for the Office of the Ombudsman, disclosed that these cases were recorded between January 1, 2023, and May 16, 2024, as reported by The Namibian. Complaints from police officers often involve unfair transfers, ignored transfer requests, and promotion oversights, while civilians primarily lodge complaints about assault allegations against the police force.
