In a celebration of academic excellence, nearly 200 teachers in the Khomas region have been honoured for their outstanding performance in the 2023 academic year. The awards ceremony, held at Windhoek High School on Wednesday , aimed to recognise and reward the dedication and hard work of teachers who have significantly contributed to the academic success of their learners.
Among the top recipients is Kudzai Rukanda, a teacher from Windhoek’s Combretum Trust School Kudzai Rukanda, recognised as the overall best English Ordinary Level teacher and Best English teacher. She expressed gratitude for the recognition, having achieved a 100% pass rate for the 2023 academic year, a significant improvement from the 77% pass rate of the previous year. Rukanda was awarded a laptop and N$ 2000 cash reward.
“I feel so happy. I’m so delighted. I don’t even know how to express myself because I’m so happy. Out there, I encourage other teachers to work closely with their learners and to be committed to their work at all times. At the end of the day, it will pay very well,” says Rukanda.
