The UN says there is “no safe place” for civilians in Gaza – after dozens of people were killed in an air strike. Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described Sunday’s attack as a “tragic mishap” but is promising to continue the assault against Hamas targets. The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Rafah incident. Noga Tarnopolsky – a correspondent in Jerusalem – says the strike led to a fire in an “Israel-defined safe zone”.
