The Ongwediva Town Council has unveiled its N$192.4 million budget for the 2024/25 financial year, with Mayor Taarah Shalyefu emphasizing a focus on operational expenditure, which comprises 58% of the total budget. Shalyefu highlighted adherence to ministerial directives, with personnel costs kept at 35% of the operational budget and overtime limited to 2.6% of the personnel budget, in line with prescribed ratios. Maintenance expenditures align with budget circular guidelines, while tariffs will remain unchanged due to current economic conditions. However, the council retains the option to adjust water tariffs should NamWater announce bulk purchase increases.
