Today marks the 35th anniversary of the deadly June 4, 1989, crackdown on protesters near Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. The crackdown remains a taboo subject in mainland China, and Hong Kong is expected to keep a tight lid on memorials that were once an annual tradition, amid sweeping security legislation.
