Democratic Union Party In S.A Calls for Annulment of Recent Elections

Background

The Democratic Union Party in S.A wants the annulment of the recent general elections, saying it is still of the view that sections of the Electoral Matters Amendment Act are unconstitutional. The Constitutional Court dismissed the party’s application on Monday, which sought to address the irregularities of the Act. DUP’s spokesperson, Thapelo Makgale, says they believe that conducting the elections under the Electoral Act resulted in the election of an unlawful government:
