Police Arrest 136 for Drug Possession Worth Nearly N$ 8 Million in May

Background

The Namibian Police Force arrested 136 individuals for drug possession in May, with the drugs valued at almost N$8 million. NamPol’s Head of Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, reported that 127 of those arrested are Namibian, while the rest include nationals from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Congo, and Tanzania. The majority were found with cannabis worth over N$7.2 million, along with Mandrax, crack cocaine, and cocaine powder. Shikwambi highlighted the threat of illegal substances to the future of young Namibians.
