UN Security Council Adopts US-Backed Resolution for Permanent Hamas-Israel Ceasefire

The United Nations Security Council has adopted a US-drafted resolution for a permanent ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, and the release of the hostages in Gaza. Fourteen of the 15 Security Council members voted in favour of the resolution. Russia abstained. A three-part ceasefire plan was unveiled by U.S president, Joseph Biden last month.
