Rice and poultry farming in northern Namibia are expanding, supported by UNAM’s Ogongo Campus and Debmarine Namibia. This year’s rice harvest is expected to reach 25 tonnes, up by eight tonnes. Omusati Governor Erginus Endjala called for investment in climate-smart agricultural technologies to address poor crop yields and livestock losses due to drought. UNAM’s Rice and Mahangu Project, launched with Japanese support in 2012, continues to train and support local farmers. Debmarine Namibia’s N$750,000 donation in 2022 funded essential farming equipment.
