Reuters has disclosed that South Africa recorded its initial fatality from the viral infection monkey pox, as confirmed by its Health Minister, Joe Phaahla during a Wednesday news conference. The 37-year-old man passed away at Tembisa Hospital on Monday, marking the first death following five laboratory-confirmed cases in the past month. Phaahla emphasized the importance of prevention and management, stating, “One death is too many, especially from a preventable and manageable disease like mpox.”
