The al-Qaeda affiliate, Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin has claimed responsibility for an attack on June 11 that reportedly killed over 100 soldiers in the Mansila area of Burkina Faso, near the border with Niger. This information was reported by the SITE Intelligence Group on Sunday as indicated in a report by Reuters. The Burkina Faso ruling junta has not responded to requests for comment about the incident. According to a JNIM statement, fighters overran a military post in Mansila, resulting in 107 soldier fatalities and the capture of the site.
