At least seven people were killed in unrest in North Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, local officials reported on Saturday. The unrest followed protests against a spike in deadly attacks by suspected Islamist rebels. The Allied Democratic Forces, affiliated with the Islamic State, are accused of killing over 40 people in Mayikengo village this week and more than 80 in attacks on other villages in the province the previous week.
