Over 300,000 Namibian households lack adequate housing and sanitation, with most being ultra-low and low-income families unable to enter the formal housing market, according to Erongo Governor, Neville Andre Itope. At a Swakopmund workshop hosted by the National Council Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Housing, Itope revealed that about 230,000 families live in informal settlements with insecure tenure and minimal services. The workshop addressed the housing backlog and the challenges faced by the urban poor in accessing land and housing.
