Namibia Leads Sub-Saharan Africa in Gender Equality And Ranks 8th Globally

Background

Namibia has achieved 8th place globally on the 2024 Global Gender Gap Index, closing 80.5% of its gender gap and leading Sub-Saharan Africa. South Africa follows at 18th place worldwide. The index assesses gender parity across economic participation, education, health, and political empowerment, with Namibia excelling in all dimensions, ranking in the top 25 globally in each subindex.
