Nigeria’s Aiteo Halts Production at Nembe Creek Facility Due to Oil Leak

Nigerian energy company, Aiteo has ceased all oil production at its Nembe Creek facility, which produces nearly 50,000 barrels per day, following the detection of a leak, the company announced on Wednesday. Reuters reports that Aiteo Eastern E&P reported that the leak was discovered during routine operations on Monday in the Nembe area of Bayelsa state, known for severe pollution from decades of oil spills impacting agriculture and fishing.
