Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters Challenges Deregistration by Electoral Commission

The Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters has asked the Electoral Commission of Namibia to halt its decision to deregister the party, pending a review by the Electoral Court. NEFF’s lawyers, Kadhila Amoomo Legal Practitioners, claim the decision is premature and unfair, as NEFF was not given a chance to be heard and the ECN had not fully exercised its powers under section 140(6) of the Electoral Act. NEFF has until June 30 to meet financial reporting requirements. The ECN must respond by June 27. The ECN also deregistered the Christian Democratic Voice for similar reasons.
