Russia is willing to share its experiences with the universal basic income grant with Namibia, as announced by Yelena Perminova, Chairperson of the Russian Federal Council Committee on Social Policy. Russia has been implementing UBI for two years and is ready to assist Namibia in their deliberations. Namibia’s Standing Committee on Health, Social Welfare, and Labour Affairs, led by Hans Nambondi, is investigating the adoption of UBI to support the poor and vulnerable, following a motion from November last year. Recently, the Basic Income Grant Coalition of Namibia petitioned the government for a UBI grant of N$500 per person to combat poverty.
