Man Dies After Shack Fire in Ombili Informal Settlement

Johannes !Hoaeb, 39, from Ombili informal settlement in Otjiwarongo, died from injuries after his shack burned down on Monday morning. !Hoaeb, who appeared intoxicated, had asked his mother for matches before the fire broke out. Despite efforts by his mother and neighbors to save him, he suffered severe burns and died while being transferred to a hospital. Police are investigating the incident.

UN General Assembly President Visits Namibia Ahead of 2024 Summit

Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, is visiting Namibia for three days at the invitation of Peya Mushelenga, Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. This visit precedes the Summit of the Future in September 2024, co-facilitated by Namibia and Germany.
