Independence Avenue shooting in Windhoek leaves suspect dead

A robbery suspect was fatally shot on Independence Avenue near Auto Swiegers in Windhoek this morning. According to The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the robbers stole an estimated N$45 000 in cash from a vehicle, and are suspected to have followed the driver from Katutura.

A police officer, dressed in civilian clothing, was in the area at the time of the incident. After the suspects fired shots, the officer responded by shooting at the robbers, resulting in the fatality. The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to gather more details about the incident.
