South African National Union of Mineworkers Disappointed with Steenhuisen’s Appointment as Agriculture Minister

The South African National Union of Mineworkers has expressed disappointment over the appointment of DA leader John Steenhuisen as the new Minister of Agriculture, succeeding Thoko Didiza. NUM spokesperson Luphert Chilwane emphasized that Steenhuisen must address South Africa’s persistent food insecurity at the homestead level and urged his department to commit more effort towards ensuring food security.
