The Office of the Labour Commissioner has initiated a Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) initiative, engaging stakeholders to address longstanding challenges and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of labour dispute resolution. Labour Commissioner Kyllikki Sihlahla said that the office, which handles labour dispute resolutions through conciliation and arbitration processes, has long faced public criticism for its inefficiencies.

During the stakeholder engagement, Deputy Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation, Hafeni Temula, said there is a need for transformation in labour dispute prevention. While acknowledging the positive outcomes achieved thus far, Temula noted that several flaws still need to be addressed to improve the system.
The engagement provided a crucial platform for stakeholders to identify bottlenecks that hinder swift service delivery at the Office of the Labour Commissioner. Through this initiative, the Labour Commission is committed to transforming its processes to better serve the Namibian workforce, ensuring that labour disputes are resolved more quickly and effectively.
