Marcus Thomas and Kevan Townsend, convicted last year for the murder of Namibian André Heckmair, are appealing their sentences in the Windhoek High Court. The court, presided over by Judge Christie Liebenberg, will deliver its ruling on September 9. Thomas and Townsend were each sentenced to 30 and 29 years in prison, respectively, for the murder of Heckmair in January 2011. Heckmair was found dead in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. The two men had been awaiting trial for 13 years before their sentencing.
