Katutura Residents Mobilize Against Electricity Price Hikes

In a proactive response to proposed electricity price hikes by the Electricity Control Board, residents of Katutura have launched a concerted effort to voice their discontent and seek redress. Shaun Gariseb, a member of the Katutura Residents Committee, says the community has initiated an online petition that has rapidly gained momentum, nearing 10,000 signatures.

The Electoral Commission says it will only register those people who are classified as male or female on their identification documentation. This comes amid concerns from activists and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and other communities about the lack of inclusivity for non-binary and transgender individuals.
