Khomas Region Requires Three New Schools Annually

Background

Khomas Region needs at least three new schools each year to accommodate an annual increase of 2,665 learners, according to Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua. The region currently has 141 schools serving 106,350 learners, with a learner population growth of 18% over the past six years. Additionally, improvements in the Namibia Senior Secondary School Ordinary Level results were noted, with 1,610 learners qualifying for the Advanced Subsidiary Level in 2024, up from 1,290 in 2023. The council also allocated funds for school uniforms, bags, and educational assistance for Namcol and higher education students.
