Protests in Nigeria over the rising cost of living subsided on Monday, with only a few hundred people participating in major cities following a deadly crackdown by security forces, according to Reuters. Since the demonstrations began last week, hundreds of thousands had rallied in Abuja, Lagos, and other major cities against economic hardship and crime. Originally scheduled to continue until August 10, the protests have significantly dwindled since their start on Thursday.
