The Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA), Rosalia Martins-Hausiku, has urged drivers to exercise vigilance and responsibility on the roads. In a media release issued by the MVA on Wednesday, the fund reported that as of 5 August 2024, Namibia had recorded 1,720 crashes, 3,153 injuries, and 237 fatalities for the year. The recent accident contributes to the increasing statistics of road carnage.

The MVA Fund, a statutory body tasked with designing, developing, promoting, and implementing motor vehicle accident and injury prevention measures, stressed the importance of responsible behavior from all road users to help curb these alarming numbers.

Rosalia Martins-Hausiku called attention to the urgent need for drivers to adopt safer driving practices to prevent further tragedies on Namibia’s roads.
