In a recent episode of In Focus with Leonard Witbeen on OneAfrica Television, Marelize Mentz, the Marketing Manager of Lady Pohamba Private Hospital (LPBH), discussed the hospital’s ongoing initiatives and future plans. Mentz shared insights into the hospital’s recent engagement with high school students and its role in promoting the healthcare profession among Namibia’s youth.

Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, recognized as one of the best healthcare providers in Namibia, recently hosted students from 26 schools as part of an initiative to introduce them to various medical professions. This effort, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, aimed to inspire students to pursue careers in healthcare by offering them a glimpse into the daily life of medical professionals, including specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and occupational therapists.

Mentz also highlighted the hospital’s active participation in World Breastfeeding Week, which ran from August 1st to 7th. Under the theme “Closing the Gap,” the hospital focused on empowering women to feel confident in breastfeeding, both at home and in the workplace. To support this, Lady Pohamba hosted a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) talk by Dorley Vrindad, an international board-certified lactation consultant, emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding support for all.

Mentz encouraged companies to create breastfeeding-friendly environments, stating that such initiatives would benefit both mothers and the broader community. She also invited the public to visit the hospital’s comorbidity center, which provides specialized care for patients with diabetes, wounds, and other health conditions, and highlighted the hospital’s commitment to patient safety and professional development.

Lady Pohamba Private Hospital continues to prioritize the well-being of its patients and the professional growth of its staff, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of healthcare in Namibia.
