The Erongo Police have identified the missing man near Cape Cross as 44-year-old Lisius Nkandi. Nkandi, a chief mate on a Namibian-registered fishing vessel, went missing on August 18 after disembarking the stranded vessel in a rubber dinghy without a motor. Despite ongoing search efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown. The vessel had broken down on August 3, leading to the safe rescue of seven crew members on August 9, but Nkandi, the captain, and a chief technician stayed behind. The police and volunteers continue to search for Nkandi.
