Political Parties Urged to Elect Inclusive Parliamentarians

Human rights activist, Linda Baumann has called on Namibian political parties to ensure that their selection of parliamentarians is based on merit and inclusivity. With the ruling party’s upcoming electoral college and other parties preparing their candidate lists, Baumann emphasized the importance of democratic and open nomination processes. She urged parties to consider candidates’ commitment to human rights, social justice, and the representation of marginalized communities, including those with disabilities, minorities, and other vulnerable groups.
