Despite responses from the Poverty Eradication ministry, the Basic Income Grant Coalition says they will proceed with its nationwide protest on August 26, aimed at addressing youth unemployment and poverty. The organization says its petition handed over in June has not garnered urgent and favorable responses. 21 year-old researcher from BIG, Tjipura Tjipura, asserts that Namibia, rich in resources, is fully capable of feeding its 3 million residents.

A major tropical storm has knocked out power for nearly half of Puerto Rico's population, as Hurricane Ernesto barrels through the Caribbean.
