In a recent statement, Katutura Central Constituency councillor Rodman Vezemba Katjaimo addressed concerns raised by community member Shaun Gariseb regarding his approach to constituency matters. Katjaimo clarified that Gariseb’s comments stem from a misunderstanding of his office’s responsibilities.
Firstly, Katjaimo emphasized that he has written thousands of letters similar to Gariseb’s during one-on-one consultations with community members. “I used my office letterhead because these letters pertain to my official work,” he explained, underscoring the formal nature of his correspondence.
He expressed puzzlement at Gariseb’s expectation for solidarity, stating, “I have a dedicated office to manage. I am not a pressure group; I am an elected councillor with a duty to deliver results, not to participate in street demonstrations.”
Katjaimo further remarked on the nascent status of Gariseb’s organization as a political entity, questioning why he should feel compelled to respond to every pressure group emerging in the community. “Did Shaun extend an invitation to their event? No! I have a mandate to deliver, not to organize protests or create unnecessary confusion.”
Through this response, Katjaimo reaffirmed his commitment to serving the community effectively and addressing its needs through his official capacity.
