A South African Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has criticised the South African Democratic Teachers Union’s decision to defy president Cyril Ramaphosa’s three-month pause on clauses 4 and 5 of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act. Makaneta calls Sadtu’s stance reckless and disappointing, as Ramaphosa seeks discussions to refine the law. He urges Sadtu to respect the process and prioritise the education sector’s interests:
