Namib Mills has issued a statement regarding the tragic deaths of three children in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, after consuming home-cooked porridge. The company emphasized that there is no evidence linking their Top Score Instant Porridge to the incident. As a precaution, the product has been temporarily withdrawn from markets in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Lesotho while an independent investigation is conducted.

In response to the situation, the CEO and senior management team traveled to Mdantsane to engage with the affected community and oversee the investigation. The specific production batch has been identified and isolated, with samples sent to an independent laboratory for comprehensive testing. Although results typically take up to two weeks, Namib Mills has requested an expedited process to share findings promptly.

The company reassured the public of its commitment to food safety, stating that independent testing is part of its ongoing efforts to maintain high quality and safety standards. They will provide regular updates through social media and their website to keep customers and stakeholders informed. Namib Mills remains dedicated to prioritizing health and safety in all their operations.
