The Affirmative Repositioning has officially put forward its leader, Job Amupanda, as its presidential candidate for the November general election. This submission was made to the Electoral Commission of Namibia this morning. To be registered as a presidential candidate, one must be part of a registered political party (unless running as an independent), be a registered voter, and pay a fee of N$20,000.

Amupanda, born 28 August 1987 in Omaalala, Oshana Region, is an activist, associate professor, and politician who served as the Mayor of Windhoek from 2 December 2020 to 1 December 2021.

Affirmative Repositioning (AR) is a leftist political movement that focuses on land reform, youth empowerment, and social reform. Established in 2014 by Job Amupanda, Dimbulukeni Nauyoma, and George Kambala, the movement has had the support of thousands of youth.

After political analysts speculated for a while that the Affirmative Repositioning movement might evolve into a political party, it was officially registered as an association for the 2020 local elections in the urban areas of Windhoek, Walvis Bay, and Swakopmund.
