The Cabinet has approved the urgent establishment of a small claims court to alleviate congestion in Namibia’s legal system, led by the Ministry of Justice. According to The Brief, this court will handle minor civil disputes, allowing higher courts to focus on complex cases. The government is also prioritizing a program to address the backlog of deceased estates and implementing measures to protect the public from legal professional abuse, improve Guardian Fund management, and fill vacancies in the legal sector to enhance access to justice.
