Background

Kamala Harris has vowed to ‘ensure that the threat Hamas poses is eliminated’, on the anniversary of the October 7th attacks. The US Vice President told media she is “devastated by the loss and pain of the Israeli people” and called for a ceasefire deal, one year after a deadly war began in the region. Harris, President Joseph Biden and Donald Trump are all marking the occasion with events across the country. Reporting from New York for us is Sally Patterson.
