Nigeria has seen a sharp rise in cholera-related deaths in 2024, with 350 fatalities recorded between January and September, a 239% increase compared to 106 deaths during the same period last year, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Duetsche Welle reports that the health authorities are supplying vaccines to the hardest-hit states, including Lagos, the most affected region, but are facing increasing demands for more doses to ensure sufficient coverage.
