Seven men convicted in Namibia’s longest-running Caprivi treason trial were sentenced to prison terms of five to 16 years on Monday for attempting to secede from the Zambezi region. The trial involved 132 people charged with 278 offenses, including high treason and murder, related to the Caprivi conflict between 1992 and 2002. A local newspaper reported that the men had already been in custody for more than 20 years.
