Despite the construction of 2,065 classrooms since 2019, with some still incomplete, regions across the country continue to face severe classroom shortages. The government has built 1,561 classrooms to date, with 474 more under construction. Reports indicate that according to UNICEF’s 2023/24 education brief, the country faces a shortage of over 4,400 classrooms. Ohangwena’s regional education director, Isak Hamatwi, highlighted that the region alone needs around 400 additional classrooms to meet demand.
