Local ecologist, Peter Cunningham urged Namibia to prioritize the protection of its flora and fauna over seal culling for financial benefits. His comments were prompted by RDP presidential candidate, Mike Kavekotora’s proposal to halve the country’s seal population if elected, which Kavekotora argued would significantly boost the fishery industry’s revenue and create 40,000 jobs.
